Hemp – Hemp is the world’s strongest natural fiber and makes great clothes. It is ideal for fabric because it wicks moisture away from the body, is mildew resistant and blocks out the sun’s harmful rays, naturally.

Linen –Linen is allergy-free, antistatic, antibacterial and has low elasticity (the fabric doesn’t deform), absorbs humidity, and allows the skin to breathe.. Linen can be washed many times without alteration. It is able to absorb up to 20 times its weight in moisture before it feels damp.

Tencel® (lyocell) – Lyocell is a relatively new fiber that represents a milestone in the development of environmentally sustainable textiles. Lyocell is made from cellulose in wood pulp, which is harvested from tree-farmed trees that are managed on land unsuitable for food crops or grazing. The fiber is produced with minimal impact on the environment and economically uses energy and water.

Characteristics of Hemp Fabric - *Shrinking: 100% hemp fabric shrinks about 5% on the first wash. Hemp/cotton and hemp/silk blends shrink about 3% on the first wash. Residual shrinkage on further washes is not measurable. *Stretching: 100% hemp fabric stretches very little and the elongation factor is not measurable. Woven hemp fabrics do experience slight stretching. *Washing: Hemp fabric is one of the only fabrics that is stronger wet than dry, so hemp does not weaken with washing. Yet hemp softens with washing as new surfaces are revealed. *Drying: Hemp can be machine-dried. When dried by machine, hemp will wrinkle and shrink slightly. Air drying will prevent wrinkling. *Wrinkling: Hemp textiles wrinkle when washed and dried. Hemp wrinkles similarly, though less than flax-linen. *Ironing: Hemp irons easily and can withstand higher temperatures than flax-linen. Always iron the underside of hemp fabric first. This preserves the texture of the weave. With hemp/silk blends and hemp/tencel blends only iron the underside of the fabric as well. *Molding: Hemp fabric is naturally resistant to mold and mildew. *Storing: Hemp fabric is naturally mothproof and should be stored under normal conditions. *Sunlight: Hemp fabric shields and absorbs ultraviolet light better than cotton or flax-linen. In fact, hemp blocks 98% of ultra-violet lights.
